Sonora Meet Information

What events should my athlete swim?
Friday Night we want to get as many swimmers signed up for the 500y free as possible! This is a 9 and older event and we always make it a point to get as many 9 year olds as possible to use this as their first 500y meet. If you are unsure if your swimmer can compete in this race talk to a coach ASAP. Swimmers are also asked to swim an IM race as well that evening, with the 100 IM for 10 and unders, 200 IM for 11-12's, and 400 IM for 13-18 year olds. 

10 and under events are open events for swimmers 10 years and younger, while 9-10 events are just for 9-10 year olds. In the 10 and under events these swimmers compete based on their times and are later scored against other swimmers in the age group (6 and under, 7-8, or 9-10's). 

Saturday and Sunday swimmers should sign up for as many events as possible! Friday night the team will be going out as a group to dinner for any families that wish to participate and Saturday after the meet we traditionally go out for pizza. 

Events will be divided into two flights – Gold and Silver. If there are less that 12 swimmers, all swimmers will be in the Gold Flight. For both the Gold and Silver Flights, ribbons will be awarded 1st thru 6th place. “A” medals will be awarded to swimmers achieving “A” times. Individual events with open or multiple ages will be awarded and scored by separate age divisions. Relays will be awarded 1st thru 6th. Individual High Point Awards will be given in each age group: 6-un, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18. Team awards will be given for 1st thru 3rd place.

Last year our athletes took home almost every single High Point Award. Let's see if we can take them all this year!

Gold flight will be scored 8, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Silver Flight will be awarded but not scored. Relays will be scored 24, 20,18, 16, 14, and 12.

This will be our first year attending this meet as a team and we will desperately need 2-3 officials. Contact Coach Clay if you are willing to help our team out!

Lodging and Motels: 
Coach Clay is looking into blocking off a group of rooms for the team at a motel in the area. Expect more information on this by email soon.
